The Great Purge

Lately our life has been one giant game of “snog, marry, avoid”, except instead of snog, marry or avoid it’s sell, keep, throw away. Yep, clearing out 8 years worth of accumulated “stuff” is hard work (I really don’t want to say junk but, let’s be real)! It’s not like the usual house move where you can just shove it in a box and deal with it at the new house, we have to limit our boxes cos it’s kinda pricey to ship things all the way back to NZ. Not only did we have to answer the tough questions like “am I ever going to wear this freaking-amazing-but-not-really-my-style-anymore jacket” or “will I ever use this random scrap of vintage Japanese fabric”, we also had to sort through mountains of paperwork. Like actual mounds of untouched in 8 years paperwork that I had always said “oh I must file that away” but never did. Hopefully this is a lesson for future Alex not to keep every bit of paper that comes her way.

Speaking of bits of paper, I’ve been trying (but mostly failing) to get back into my sketching. So, of course I documented our packing process! Usually I dislike unpainted sketches but I quite like it with just the red pen details. Plus, I should have been packing at the time and, for once, I got back to what needed doing. Take that, procrastination!
