Melb to KL to Seoul

Yasssss, we are in Seoul! But  honestly, I felt like dying on the way here. We left our hotel at Melbourne at 7am, and our first flight was at 10:30am. We flew with Air Asia X but we treated ourselves to ~Premium Flatbed~ seats, and boy am I glad we did. The seats recline soooo much further than regular seats – almost flat but not quite. We got pillows and a plush blanket, and the legroom! And I could actually stand in front of my seat and not have to make Joel move every time I got up. So overall, that flight was good, slept an hour or so. BUT, when we finally made it to Kuala Lumpur 8 hours later I was not in a good way – hot, tired, nauseous, ugh! So 9 hours in KL was a struggle. We ventured out to the Mitsui Outlet Park (and tbh, the bus ride there was the best part of KL: air-con & sunset views). My appetite was pretty much non-existent, which was fine cos the meal we got was shit. By the time we made it back to the airport, back through customs (which, by the way, KL has the most chill customs I’ve ever experienced, it’s like they barely cared what you were up to) and then into the premium lounge I was ready to pass out. Only 2 more hours till our 1am flight, can’t sleep yet!!

The second flight from KL to Seoul was 6 hours but gone in a flash! We went straight to sleep and slept pretty much right through; didn’t even have our meals. We landed at around 8am so we had an awesome view coming in – Seoul has lots of little mini-mountains (hills is not the right word for them!).

We couldn’t check in to our Airbnb till 3pm so we took it easy – breakfast at the airport (bibimbap for me and kimchi/pork stew for Joel), bus into Gangnam (takes about an hour) then we just came straight to the Airbnb even though we were almost 2 hours early. Luckily there was a good spot outside to sit and wait in the sun and a 7-11 close by.

Our Airbnb is amazing! Just perfect for us – lots of space, a sunny verandah, supermarket on the corner and a cute neighbourhood. And, first impressions of Seoul? Love it!!
