Lotte World Tower

We have a bit of a tradition of going up tall things, so of course we had to go up Lotte World Tower. At 555m tall, it is the 5th tallest building in the world (impressive), the tallest in South Korea, and it has the highest glass floor (glad I didn’t know that at the time!)

After a browse around Lotte Mall underneath, we headed on up. Tickets were ₩27,000 each (~$33 AUD) and the security clearance was actually more intense than at KL Airport! Joel had his lighter taken off him, haha. The elevator had a nice little video on the ceiling showing the change from old Seoul to modern Seoul. “Seoul Sky” is on floors 117-123 and includes a couple of very small cafes, a shop, the glass floor and outside terraces. There is also a ~Premium~ Lounge on the 123rd floor but we didn’t go up there because it looked expensive, but in hindsight it probably would have been better than sitting on the cafe mezzanine floor which had not the best views. Other than that the views were spectacular! Seoul is quite different to what I had expected – the dense buildings are broken up by a lot of tree-clad hilly areas and there’s even some craggy mountains in the distance. You can tell that it gets bloody cold in the winter!!

Afterwards we wandered around Seokchon Lake Park (after getting politely told off by a security guard via the translation app on his phone “we are working on the environment, you are not allowed here, please leave”, haha oops).

So, another Tall Thing to add to our list!!

tickets
Our tickets to Seoul Sky!
View from Seoul Sky
The view towards Seoul Station from the 117th floor. Seoul is quite smoggy looking but the air still feels fresh.
View from Seoul Sky
The view of the Olympic Park area from Seoul’s 1988 Olympic Games.
Seoul
Seoul looks like someone copy and pasted lots of apartment buildings.
Glass floor at Seoul Sky
The world’s highest glass floor! Easier to look at it through my phone screen, lol.
Lotte World Tower
Lotte World Tower is so tall it’s hard to get far enough away at the bottom to get a decent photo!
Seokchon Lake
Seokchon Lake Park is nearby – beautiful autumn colours. The other half of the lake has Lotte World themepark on an island in the middle.
