An hour up Namsan

Namsan is one of the many small “peaks” in Seoul, easily identifiable by N Seoul Tower on top, and is the geographical centre of the city. Apparently it takes about an hour or so to walk up but um, no thanks, so we took the cable car up; the walk up to the cable car was bad enough…

We’ve been on a few cable cars in Japan – they call them “ropeways” there, and generally we love them. However, this was really just a way to get to the top. About 20 of us squeezed onto it, so tough luck for the people in the middle or wrong side for the views (AKA us). It took 5 minutes max and cost ₩9500 each for a round trip (about $12AUD).

After the somewhat disappointing ride up, the park was lovely. Golden trees and stone walls and breathtaking views. But, lots of selfie-taking tourists. We skipped out on N Seoul Tower (even though it would have been a good addition to our Tall Things list). So, back onto the full cable car and down the slope, and that was our short visit to Namsan. I guess we weren’t feeling up to being in full-tourist mode that day.
